Hands-On Intro to Sourdough
Bake a Loaf & Make Pizza Dough
Duration: 2 hours
Would you like to understand naturally fermented bread, not just in theory, but through experience?
In this intimate, hands-on class, you will step into the rhythm of real sourdough baking.
You will score and bake a fully proofed sourdough loaf, learning how each cut guides the rise, structure, and final beauty of the bread. As your loaf transforms in the oven, we will talk through how fermentation works, why sourdough has sustained generations, and how simple ingredients become something extraordinary with time.
You will also mix your own sourdough pizza dough by hand, which you will take home to continue the process yourself. This gives you a living connection to the craft beyond the classroom.
We will bake and share fresh sourdough pizza together, allowing you to taste the result of natural fermentation at its best.
You will leave with:
- Your own scored and freshly baked sourdough loaf
- Your own sourdough pizza dough to bake at home
- Your own jar of active Great Lakes Sourdough starter
- A clear understanding of fermentation and how sourdough works
- The confidence to continue baking at home
This class is intentionally approachable and welcoming, designed as the perfect first step into the world of naturally fermented bread.
No experience necessary.
